Yesterday a 16-year-old girl had a whole club hold its breath as she, alone on a stage glowing with dimmed lights, played the piano and sang of lost teenage love. Wearing a simple white dress, Swedish Amanda Mair shared with us the pain and beauty of an innocent first love. Time flew past as she served us delicate ballads decorated with perfectly hit high notes and when the crowd requested one more song, she returned to sing one she had already performed. But only after her dad had snuck in backstage to give her his support.
Amanda Mair may be too young to enter Debaser Slussen on any other occasion, but it didn't stop her from blowing her entire, much older, crowd away last night. This young lady will go far.
Here's Amanda Mair performing on Swedish Morning TV:

reppin those endz
Stole this one from one of my fave blogs, Lads On Tour. My old pal Dean is doing a great job with the Horizon boys and I'd say it's about time someone appreciates all the backstage work that goes on on tour. Guitar geeks, don't stop dreaming - one day your passion might get you this far.

Now for bed and the rerun of last night's The Rock Show.
Britney joins Rihanna for some s&m. Not that much of a shocker maybe but do check out YouTube or iTunes for the new collaboration, it aint too bad.
Also, the interview with Miss I Love The Smell Of It featured in the latest issue of The Rolling Stone is phenomenal. Get it today and make sure you don't miss the report on Afghanistan, though don't read it too late if you want a good night's sleep.

Britney's Back with Doomsday Dancing
Britney Spears premières her new video for "Till The World Ends" and takes it back to her signature dark roots. With a video free from sickening advertisement for some fatal perfume no one wants anyway, she gives us a futuristic underground version of the saucy "I'm A Slave For You" and literally spice(s it) up (your life?) with crashing sky scrapers and DJs in studded vests spinning laser decks. Despite those oh so forced and awkward sex/kiss/tongue scenes it is nice to see good old Britney on true from again.

Psychosocial Bieber
Sitting in on a Saturday night after a heavy Friday out, I came across this absolute stroke of genius:
I especially appreciate the fact that they kept Luda in it. Night y'all!

Sick Saturday
It's a beautiful spring Saturday and I am not only sick but sitting inside working. This would really suck if it wasn't for the fact that I'm reviewing the re-release of the letlive. album "Fake History", out on April 11. The album which contains three new tracks is something way out of the ordinary and if you've missed the L.A. band before here's a (sick) taste of what they do:
letlive. - "The Sick, Sick, 6.8 Billion"

Euro season
Spring is here and with it a fever spreads across Europe - hitting Sweden and Germany particularly bad. Some cheer whilst most sigh as the well-known circus of political voting, fake postcards and terrible musical acts we know as The Eurovision Song Contest starts all over again.
The competition doesn't take place until the 14th of May but fans are counting the days already. Today the one country that, apart from Italy and Austria (who declined participation for a few years, blaming the corrupt (!) and unfair voting system), year after year rolls its eyes in utter disgust at the event released the official video for their entry.
The UK, placing last year after year after competing with forced entries taking the piss out of the whole affair are in for a 180. Because this year, things are about change. Watch and learn, Sweden.
Oh and for those (many) of you, feeling the sick rise in your throats at the very thought of Eurovision, here's a little something something released today for you to enjoy:

Chicks & Cream - VIVE LA FEMME!
IT'S INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY AND PANCAKE DAY.
In Sweden we in honour of the long abandoned lent period today celebrate bakery items filled with cream and marzipan called semlor as well as women (cream and marzipan optional), making it one of the best days of the year only potentially beaten by Christmas for its great amount of food and cheesy music.
It is time to appreciate those fabulous women around us! And if you, like me, consider yourself of this gender then take a look at this mini Bond film. Whilst you consider those facts, do make sure to treat yourself to another pancake, or semla. It's international pancakes and women's day and just like those God awful ads keep telling you; you're worth it.
Here's a few of my favourite ladies, all worthy of a pancake or ten.

Mondays are for Mother Monster Manifestos
Lady Gaga's highly anticipated video for "Born This Way" has just been released. Watch it here:
This time the all ruling pop queen gives us a dark space saga which sadly does not compare to Jonas Åkerlund's amazing Telephone video but merely adds to the Gaga art collection filled with Important Messages For Planet Earth. The song is catchy and bound to be a classic gay anthem for a long time to come, to wish that the video had mirrored the merry lyrics would probably have been to ask to much of the oh so sincere Lady.
With a video full of symbols, body paint, complicated words and provocative dancing I can't help but wonder if the woman who aims to have "the best body in the industry" doesn't take herself a bit too seriously with her Mother Monster Manifesto? At least she hasn't peppered her video with sickening adverts for her own perfume, like someone else I know.

The Return of The Doctor
I am a big fan of this guy, anyone who hears my phone go off knows that. Now I am glad to announce that the Doctor is back and that he is indeed, despite his Hulky look, Still Dre.
Godnattvisa
Earlier, the amazing Adele sang for the ever inspiring Ellen.
And with that I bid you Good Night in the style of The Cardigans: Go to bed world, sleep in peace.

LIGHT THERAPY
February is a dark and far too cold month.
Spring can't come soon enough if you ask the Stockholmers sweating under their plastic clouds of down as they squeeze up against each other in the underground morning traffic before pulling their trendy hats with controversial fur balls tightly over their ears once hit by the freezing air outside. The fact that the sun is setting later every day makes little difference when the temperatures stubbornly stay far below ten minus degrees, hitting twenty at night.
It is in times like these that we all need a bit of light in our lives. Nordic Flames today gives you three music videos to help you keep at least your ears warm - much like Galadriel to Frodo once upon a time: May it be a light for you in dark places, when all other lights go out. (Yeah, I went there.)
First up, Kanye has a message we all can agree on.
From a video that might as well have been made backdrop for the following rock gods, to Mastodon and their "Oblivion" (Their live DVD being another bright thing to look forward to. Realease date 15th of March):
And finally, Bring Me The Horizon featuring, that's right, Lights.

One month until Haunted release
With a month to go until THE HAUNTED release their new album "Unseen", following "Versus" released in 2008, the excitement is almost unbearable. To try and calm the nerves, here is the first single off the album; Disappear.
Radio stations have been playing it for a couple of weeks - we stole it from someone who ripped it off our fave programme The Rock Show.
Of course, YouTube doesn't do it justice and with a taster like this I can do nothing but put an online order in asap. I need this album in my mailbox, and more importantly my CD player, on the day of release.
As Peter Dolving finally lets go of his fear and is singing properly, just like his band mates always wanted him to, we get carried away and disappear into rock'n'roll heaven...

Foo Fight those Monday Blues
Foo Fighters "White Limo" off the new album coming out sometime this spring. Rather different to "Wheels", don't you think?
On today's to do list: Do not miss The Rock Show.
Happy Monday!

GAGA ROCKS
The mother monster, all reigning pop queen and rock star, bisexual gay icon, meat wearing woman and inspiration to all LADY GAGA released her highly anticipated new single "Born This Way" mere minutes ago.
The tune sure to top chart lists for a foreseeable future is bound to be a modern classic that will have us all belting our hearts out at clubs around the world. Having been classed a gay anthem already before its release it is a song certain to inspire us all to coming out of our closets more than Katy Perry's girl kissing or P!nk's letters to the Dear Mr President ever did.
With a beat that smells of Madonna and Ray of Light, the seventh most powerful woman in the world has hit it on the head with a message her little monsters will love just as much as Ugandan priests will hate.
I'm on the right track baby, I was born to be brave.
